Hare Bandits has two open seasons a year where we invite anyone to come out and give us a try! If by the end of the open season you’re bought in, congratulations, you’re on the team! This allows us to create a more team based environment focused on accountability, consistency and inclusivity. (More information on how practices are lead below).

How Does Open Season Work?
We highly encourage you to come to all of the Open Season dates. Leading up to orientation we have several trial practices that we use to teach newcomers our routes and stretching routines as well as gives us an opportunity to introduce you to the rest of the team! During trial practices we make sure you always have a buddy so nobody gets lost or ever feels out of place.
The last day of each open season is when we hold orientation. At orientation we’ll teach you how to use our team message board, join our Strava team, share all our resources, and really explain all the different services we offer our team members! It is imperative that you are present at orientation in order to join!
What if I’ve never run before?
No worries! We love welcoming people to our community and showing them all that the sport of running can be. All we ask is that you bring a positive attitude and come ready to learn. We are excited to have you!
What can I expect from a team environment?
We have coaches to help you with training plans, free one-on-one sessions with coaches, captains that cheer you on, structured practices that are proven to help you improve, tracked timing to see your race times improve over time, financial support for low-income runners (race admission/gear/etc), nutrition & injury prevention workshops, and unlimited team support.
Do You Have A Membership Option?
Yes! We have optional monthly and yearly membership donation options. Members receive 20% off team merch items & 10% off paid events and our yearly retreat. This is not required at all and does not set you apart from other team members. We do our very best to take care of low income team members and these memberships help us afford things for those members!
What If I Want To Join During Off Season?
Unfortunately we only accept newbies during our open seasons. We would love to get your info though, so we can remind you when we’re getting close to the next open season! Please fill out the form below.
Practices
SUNDAYS: 8am @ McAlpine Park
8711 Monroe Rd – At the pavilion across from the pond
We meet up officially once a week for practice led by our coaches & captains (as well as casually during other times), sign up for races as a team, and we love to eat together!
We rotate between 0-6 mile routes, lively speed workouts, & fun runs designed to meet each runner at their ability level. We also have an optional longer distance run about once a month.
We have route maps available, but please don’t hesitate to ask questions if you are unsure where to go. Each practice opens and closes with guided stretches and announcements, so make sure to be on time to warm up properly for your run.
Afterward, the team usually heads to breakfast. Practice is over by 9:30am, so feel free to leave right at the end or join us after to socialize.
